AIM round-up: Blue Star Capital, URU Metals, Genedrive

Despite making a positive start, London’s AIM Index failed to hold onto early gains and spent the bulk of the day back in negative territory, reaching the close down just over two points at 881.05.

  • Blue Star Capital +39%
  • URU Metals +33%
  • Genedrive +33%
  • Gfinity -29%
  • Seeen -17%

Blue Star Capital LON:BLU was the day’s best performer, up 39% at the bell. There’s no formal news here but volumes are certainly above average and the company has some valuable portfolio holdings, too.

URU Metals LON:URU found itself in second place, closing some 33% higher. That’s the second day on the bounce that the company’s stock has posted meaningful gains, but there’s still no formal news to support the move which seems to be dictated more by very thin volumes and a huge spread.

Genedrive LON:GDR gets the notable mention, up 22% after the company advised the market this morning that NICE had offered preliminary approval of a genetic testing kit for use in the NHS. The full decision will come following a public consultation which closes in less than two weeks time.

Gfinity LON:GFIN slipped 29% in the wake of a business and financing update. This reiterated earlier comments that the company needed to find new financing to continue operations, with management looking to raise at least £1.5m before the end of the quarter.

Seeen LON:SEEN slipped 17%, although it’s once again a story of very thin trade, a wide spread and an underlying market cap of just a few million. A trading update from earlier in the week received no response from the market and despite including news of a significant contract win, this is unlikely to be transformative to the company’s outlook.
