Stuart Fieldhouse, Editor, The Armchair Trader
Stuart Fieldhouse has spent 25 years in journalism and marketing, including as a wealth management editor for the Financial Times group, covering capital markets and international private banking, and as an investment banking correspondent for Euromoney in Hong Kong. He was the founder editor of The Hedge Fund Journal.
Stuart has worked at CMC Markets, supporting the re-launch of its global financial spread betting and CFD trading platforms. He is also the author of two books on trading, published by Financial Times Pearson. Based in The Armchair Trader’s London office, Stuart continues to advise fund managers, private banks, family offices and other financial institutions.
Steven Palmer, President & CIO, AlphaNorth Asset Management
Steve Palmer is a founding partner, president and chief investment officer of AlphaNorth Asset Management and manages the award-winning AlphaNorth Partners Fund. Prior to founding AlphaNorth in 2007, Palmer was employed as vice president at one of the world’s largest financial institutions, where he managed equity assets of approximately CA$350M.
Palmer managed a pooled fund, which focused on Canadian small-capitalization companies, from its inception to August 2007, achieving returns of 35.8% annuallized over a nine-year period, which ranked it No. 1 in performance by a major fund ranking service in its small-cap, pooled-fund category. Palmer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
James Tansey, CEO & Founder, Klimat X
James Tansey is a speaker with two decades of experience in environmental and carbon markets. He is also a leading academic focused on clean energy strategy, impact investing and innovation having worked at the Saïd Business School in Oxford and the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business, where he has advised the British Columbia, and Federal governments on clean energy strategy and social enterprise.
In his previous company, NatureBank, James established two of the world’s largest carbon projects and secured the world’s first carbon-neutral Olympics in 2010 in Vancouver.
Mark Jarvis, CEO & Chairman of the Board, Giga Metals Corporation
Dedicated to advancing the Critical Minerals Industry in Canada for the Energy Transition, Mark is CEO and Chairman of Giga Metals with 30 years of sector experience in exploration and development of mineral resources. During his tenure, the company has drilled off a giant nickel/cobalt deposit, worked out a reliable metallurgical circuit, and published a Pre-Feasibility Study.
Kaleeg Hainsworth, CEO, Legible Inc
Kaleeg Hainsworth has decades of leadership and business experience (SaS, B2B, web tech, non-profits) and over 20 years of publishing and eBook digital publishing experience. Kaleeg, a techie (30 years coding and building for the web) and scholar, is the driving visionary behind Legible, which he co-founded with COO/CPO Angela Doll based on his vision of a portable web publishing platform that would provide access to the world’s literature to anyone with any browser, on any device, anywhere in the world.
David Gower P.Geo, CEO and Director, Emerita Resources
David Gower has been involved in the mineral industry for over 30 years, including positions with Falconbridge Limited and Noranda Inc. (now Glencore Canada Corporation). While at Falconbridge he was General Manager of Global Nickel and PGM Exploration and a member of the senior operating team that approved capital budgets for new mining projects.
Mr. Gower has been involved in numerous discoveries and mine development projects including at Raglan, Matagami, and Sudbury, Canada and green field discoveries in Brazil and Tanzania. He also previously held positions as Director of several junior mineral exploration companies focused in South America and Europe and has been a Director of Alamos Gold since 2009. Mr. Gower has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Saint Francis Xavier University and a Master of Science degree in Earth Sciences from Memorial University.
Mobeen Tahir, Director, Macroeconomic Research & Tactical Solutions at WisdomTree
Mobeen is a member of WisdomTree’s research team where he focuses on a wide range of asset classes to offer strategic and tactical insights to our clients on global markets and investment products.
Before joining WisdomTree in December 2018, Mobeen worked at Willis Towers Watson as an investment consultant advising institutional clients as well as their in-house fund business on asset allocation and portfolio construction with his research focus being equity and multi-asset smart beta.
Mobeen has a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Financial Management from Loughborough University and an MSc in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
George Ensor, Fund Manager, River and Mercantile UK Micro Cap Investment Company Ltd
George Ensor is the portfolio manager of the River & Mercantile UK Micro Cap Investment Company Limited and UK Equity Smaller Companies Fund. He has 14 years of market experience and joined R&M in 2014. He was appointed manager of RMMC in February 2018. and appointed lead manager of the Smaller Companies strategy in 2022. George was previously at Smith & Williamson. He is a Chemistry graduate from Bristol University and a CFA charter holder.
Richard Penny, Fund Manager, CRUX Asset Management
Richard Penny is the UK fund manager at Lansdowne CRUX (formerly CRUX Asset Management), with two decades of experience managing UK funds.
Richard manages three open-ended UK funds: the CRUX UK Special Situations Fund (£101.5m), the CRUX UK Core Fund (£33.1m) and the CRUX UK Smaller Companies Fund (£5.9m). All funds are targeting long-term capital growth over a period of 5+ years. The Smaller Companies fund was launch in October 2022 to capitalise on the significantly discounted UK small cap market.
