The business is regulated by the SEC, FINRA, NYSE and FCA alongside other regulatory bodies around the world.
Range of Markets
Interactive Brokers provides clients with access to Stocks and Shares across 26 countries worldwide. The business provides Futures contracts on a range of commodities, indices, equities, currencies and fixed income markets in North America, Europe and Asia. There are 22 currencies available to trade through their Forex service and a wide range of Corporate and Government Bonds.
Interactive Brokers provide a vast array of Exchange Traded Funds across 28 exchanges in 14 countries, including short ETFs and leveraged ETFs, with over 10,000 mutual funds also available from over 200 fund families.
Interactive Brokers provides a Contracts for Difference service that enables non-US clients to trade tax efficiently across a range of markets mentioned above.
Technology
Interactive Brokers provide a portal for all clients, designed to check quotes and place trades, see account balances, P&L and key performance metrics, funding and reporting. Their flagship Desktop TWS platform is designed for high-volume, global traders and those who require in-depth news, technical research and risk analysis tools, while their WebTrader version is lighter on features but offers accessibility through any web browser.
The IBot is a nice tool that works on voice recognition to find information and place orders. It is available across the Desktop TWS and IBKR Mobile platforms.
Education
Interactive Brokers provide a free Traders’ Academy that is designed for financial professionals, investors, educators and students seeking a better understanding of the asset classes, markets, currencies, tools and functionality. The Traders’ Academy courses use a blended delivery method of lessons, videos, quizzes, and notes to help clients improve their understanding of the technology available to them, its tools and capabilities.
There’s also an Experts’ Community feature. Clients can opt to receive Traders’ Insight that features timely commentary directly from industry professionals. The Market Pulse provides snapshot data and market trends on Options, ETFs, Forex, Futures, Arbitrage, Highest Dividend Yields, Corporate Bonds and EFP Interest.
