Conduit Holdings: CEO Trevor Carvey on opportunities in reinsurance

*

Trevor Carvey, CEO of Conduit Holdings [LON:CRE] joins us on the podcast this week to discuss the importance of the reinsurance sector to the larger insurance industry, and why investors should be paying more attention to this area of the market.

The reinsurance sector is not the easiest for investors to access, but Conduit Holdings has been listed on the London market as a ‘pure play’ reinsurance company with a highly experienced management team.

Conduit Holdings, the holding company for Conduit Re, was listed in December 2020. On the podcast Trevor walks us through what reinsurance does, what makes it different from plain vanilla insurance businesses, and some of the important considerations for investors, including how his team manages risk and looks after its portfolio across property, casualty and specialist risk classes.

Conduit employs 55 personnel and wrote gross premiums of USD 637m in 2022 of which 47% were property risks. It paid out a final dividend for 2022 of 18 cents per common share (36 cents full year).

Trevor himself has a track record of profitable build outs in the reinsurance industry. He led the consolidation and subsequent profitable turnaround of the GE Frankona Marine & Energy Global portfolio and was a founding underwriter and leader at Arch Re Bermuda. He also led the growth and business teams for Harbor Point in Europe.
