This week we are increasing our exposure to private equity with shares in a London-listed fund. This is a fairly conservative addition to the portfolio, but what we like about this opportunity is its sheer lack of volatility and excellent growth profile.
This is a closed-ended investment company with a focus on investing in successful private businesses in the UK. It also has a strong charitable component, with over £6m donated since 2017. The fund seeks out event-driven situations within private businesses where founders, owners or management teams are looking to make a change and will accept external capital in return for equity. This can be early stage businesses, or those making a pivot.
