This week on the podcast we catch up with Nitesh Shah. Head of Commodities at fund manager WisdomTree, about the state of global precious metals markets. The main foci of the podcast are the gold and silver markets. I wanted to spend some time talking about silver, which has risen broken above $30/oz and is showing some key bull market characteristics.
On the podcast we weigh up some of the factors that have been driving the gold price in 2023, including ongoing central bank buying, the so-called ‘weaponisation’ of the dollar market and conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. We also get into the role of retail buying in the gold market, especially from South Asia.
Apart from our analysis of silver and gold we also took some time to look at the other metals in the precious metals category, including platinum, which doesn’t get as much attention from retail investors as gold does.
