One of the things we find quite intriguing about precious metals exploration in Mexico is how mining companies are going back to districts that have been explored previously in the country's long history of mining, stretching back to the early days of the Spanish empire in some cases. New technology and exploration techniques are being employed to revisit old areas, seeking untapped silver resources.
The El Tigre district in Mexico sits in Sonora, at the northern end of the Sierra Madre gold and silver belt. Canadian-listed Silver Tiger Metals (TSXV:SLVR) has a 100% owned, 28,000+ hectares site here which was actually first explored in the 1890s. It has high grade epithermal veins controlled by a north-south trending structure that cuts across the Sierra Madre volcanic complex.
