Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins is an experienced financial journalist with nearly 35 years covering the UK and North American markets . He began in broadcasting before transitioning to newswires, including roles at the London Stock Exchange’s Topic service, S&P MarketScope, and AFX News, where he became Markets Editor. Following AFX’s acquisition by Thomson Corp and its merger with Reuters, he joined the Europe Markets team. After leaving Reuters in 2012, he served as City Editor for the Daily Mail Online, then co-led the UK team at Proactive Investors in 2016, later becoming North America Editor in 2019. Since 2024, he has freelanced, providing market commentary for AC Capital and contributing to the Daily Mail’s market reports.
