TAAT Global initiates major sales and distribution drive in Texas

TAAT Global Alternatives. [CSE: TAAT / OTCQX: TOBAF / FRANKFURT: 2TP) has confirmed that its flagship non-nicotine cigarette product TAAT will be sold in all 34 Buc-ee’s locations in the state of Texas by Monday, September 12, 2022. This is part of the upcoming rollout of TAAT across the state of Texas, which has a population of 29.5 million, and an adult smoking incidence rate of 14.7%.

TAAT announced its relationship with Buc-ee’s earlier this month; it is a regional chain of 43 gas stations and travel centres in seven Southern U.S. states. With this placement, the initial footprint of TAAT in the Buc-ee’s chain will cover approximately 80% of all Buc-ee’s locations, including the New Braunfels, TX storefront that holds the world record for the largest convenience store at 66,335 square feet in size.

TAAT Chief Executive Officer Michael Saxon said Buc-ee’s is one of the best-known local retailers and that the deal is an incredible milestone for the TAAT brand. “We continue to build our awareness with adult smokers,” he said.

Buc-ee’s team will provide TAAT with prime merchandising and advertising placement behind each of its 143 cash registers in its Texas locations. “We are putting a strategic focus on Texas, for which Buc-ee’s will be our initial anchor account,” Saxon explained. “Our success in Buc-ee’s will help us further expand in one the of the country’s largest states which has approximately 28,000 tobacco retailers. This week I am working directly with our sales team in Austin, TX where we are interacting face-to-face with the Buc-ee’s team to explore how we can maximize this opportunity.”

Michael Saxon will also be visiting Europe shortly and will be the guest of The Armchair Trader at an investor lunch in London on 13 September.

The importance of the Buc-ee’s deal for TAAT

TAAT believes that Buc-ee’s will act as an “Anchor Account” for the state of Texas where it plans to accelerate commercialisation efforts for TAAT. Buc-ee’s attracts tourists and motorists passing through Texas, along with steady patronage from a loyal base of local customers. Adult smokers from these segments who enter Buc-ee’s stores in Texas will now be able to “Try TAAT”.

TAAT is already stocked in the tobacco product displays of several Buc-ee’s locations in the state of Texas, including the “world’s largest convenience store” in New Braunfels. By Monday, September 12, 2022, all 34 Texas Buc-ee’s locations will be carrying TAAT products.

Growing interest from UK consumers

The company also confirmed it has received its third reorder for TAAT from its distributor for the United Kingdom, Green Global Earth. This purchase will be the second order shipped to the U.K. containing the Version III advanced formulation of Beyond Tobacco; the nicotine-free and tobacco-free base material of TAAT. It will also be the first U.K. shipment containing the menthol-flavoured version of TAAT, which is to be sold in the United Kingdom under the name TAAT Green.

TAAT plans to dispatch this shipment in approximately September 2022. GGE will support TAAT through its retail distribution network along with consumer engagement platforms to build awareness and trial among adult smokers.

In the United Kingdom, TAAT will be able to leverage its distinctive packaging and capitalise on the environmental pressures faced by traditional tobacco companies as well as other alternative product companies that have come under increased regulatory pressure. Of note, TAAT has received full authorization to commercialise its product in the U.K. from the National Health Service.

“We have seen first-hand the product improvements from the first iteration of Beyond Tobacco to the latest formulation, and we are excited to put our full support behind TAAT V3,” said John Hilton, CEO of GGE. “With other competitive products being removed from the market for compliance reasons, we believe reorders of TAAT such as the one to be shipped in September will allow us to expand to new geographies and major retailers across the United Kingdom.”
