Following on from our first look at non-listed companies crowdfunding on Seedrs, we highlight The Cheeky Panda which manufactures 100% ultra sustainable, low carbon, bamboo tissue products.

The Cheeky Panda is a category disruptor within the hygeine market which is valued at over $200bn a year. Their range of sustainable bamboo tissue and hygiene products that are available across Europe, USA, China and the Middle East with some of the worlds top retailers including Waitrose, Boots, MonoPrix, Carrefour, Amazon, Morrisions and Ocado.

Substantial accomplishments to date

In April 2016, The Cheeky Panda completed a rewards-based crowdfund and launched to the market in 2016. By May 2020, the business saw monthly sales of £1m and sales for the year to June 2020 reached £5.23m. The Cheeky Panda has been featured in the Sunday Times Fast Track, been awarded Ocado’s rising stars best plant based product and has recently launched with Waitrose in over 200 stores.

Monetisation strategy

The company buys and sells bamboo-based tissue products targeting a net profit margin of 20% going forwards. The company seeks to grow revenue to over £50m a year then list on the London Stock Exchange in the Growth Category.

Use of proceeds

The Cheeky Panda will be using the proceeds of this current round of crowdfunding in order to strengthen the management team in the run up to IPO, increase brand awarness to grow D2C and major retailers lauches through marketing initiatives and build working capital in the balance sheet to support trade and invoice finance.

The Cheeky Panda is currently fundraising through Seedrs. At the time of writing the business has raised £2,061,400 from 1,189 investors with the fundraising round set to close on Friday 23rd July 2021.
