Three things you need to know in the financial markets this morning from investment writer, Tony Cross.
WPP
Appointment news from WPP LON:WPP this morning with word that Dr Ya-Qin Zhang is to join the board at the start of next year. Dr Zhang was president of Baidu from 2014 to 2019, is a renowned technologist and the note adds has a deep understanding of the changing consumer technology landscape in China. The company’s share price still sits some way below pre-COVID levels but news like this may have the potential to offer investors something to cheer.
Alien Metals
Small cap miner Alien Metals LON:UFO has seen increased share price volatility in recent weeks, more than trebling earlier in the month before retreating noticeably last week. However news this morning of a new license award in Greenland along with plans to engineer a second earn-in agreement in Mexico may prove sufficient to help the company recover some of last week’s losses. An active day for the share seems as good as certain.
Bezant Resources
Another small cap which has been on our AIM market radar of late is Bezant Resources LON:BZT. They have published interims for the period to June 30th this morning, noting that losses have been reduced and cash in hand has grown from £69k at mid-year 2019 to £413k at the latest period end. To put this in context however the company did raise just short of £1m across two rounds earlier in the year. In terms of outlook, a project in northern Argentina is attracting interest from collaboration partners and the company adds that its focus on gold and copper should both provide good potential in the short to medium term. Will investors have been looking for more, however?
