Insig AI moves into digital assets with value-led strategy

Insig AI LON:INSG is stepping into the crypto universe with the same sharp-edged machine learning tools that have already powered success for its institutional clients. The company, which has carved out a reputation for helping asset managers harness vast, unstructured data to generate market-beating returns, now wants to bring that expertise to the fast-maturing digital asset space.

For shareholders, this is no minor pivot. Insig AI is looking to take advantage of a sector that has moved from narrative hype to measurable fundamentals. The company’s board and investment committee see an opportunity to capture value in the “plumbing” of the new financial system — think the crypto equivalents of payment processors, clearing houses, and data providers. These are the services that move money, settle trades and underpin lending. In short: the picks and shovels of the next financial gold rush.

A disciplined approach to crypto

The investment strategy won’t be a scattergun chase of meme coins or hype tokens. Instead, Insig AI is likely to focus on assets with real revenue, proven utility and overlooked fundamentals. This is about applying institutional discipline to what is still a mispriced market.

With global monetary expansion keeping inflation in the spotlight, crypto is increasingly pitched as a hedge against fiat devaluation. But more importantly, a growing range of digital networks are already producing reliable cash flows, from staking, lending, trading, and transaction fees. That allows analysts to bring in valuation frameworks long trusted in the traditional markets, including discounted cash flow modelling.

This is a critical shift: for the first time, a value-based approach to crypto investing is achievable.

Regulatory clarity opens the doors

What makes this moment particularly interesting is the regulatory backdrop. In the US, the GENIUS Act has delivered the most comprehensive legal framework the sector has yet seen, unlocking the door for institutions and pension funds. Europe’s MiCA, along with frameworks in Singapore and the UAE, has also created compliant routes into the sector. Legal clarity, long the missing piece of the puzzle, is here.

For the UK, the timing could not be more important. While London was once the epicentre of financial innovation, it has been treading water as other jurisdictions raced ahead. Insig AI’s move is a strong signal that Britain can still lead in the next chapter of global finance.

Investors’ first mover advantage

Shareholders will benefit directly from Insig AI’s new strategy, gaining exposure to a wider spectrum of digital assets: not just Bitcoin and Ethereum, but also the rising stars of decentralised finance (DeFi) and tokenisation. Crucially, investors won’t have to wrestle with the operational headaches of custody or direct ownership.

The investment committee will include Richard Bernstein, Insig AI’s CEO and founder of Crystal Amber Fund, one of the UK’s best-performing vehicles, and Peter Pereira Gray, former head of investments at the £38.7bn Wellcome Trust. That’s a heavyweight line-up bringing proven discipline to a fast-moving sector.

Recent performance underscores momentum

Insig AI is already delivering. Revenue rose 43% in the year to March 2025, while Q1 revenues for the current year jumped an eye-catching 143%. Losses are narrowing fast as non-cash charges fall away, and the company continues to land big-name contracts—most recently with the Financial Conduct Authority.

The launch of its automated Generative Intelligence Engine adds another powerful tool to its arsenal, and management is also weighing up a dedicated fund targeting digital assets and infrastructure plays.

Richard Bernstein, CEO, sums it up: “Using Insig AI’s data capabilities we’re able to systemise Peter’s and my investment methodology by applying it to the rapidly growing digital asset investment universe. The scale of the opportunity to become London’s leading listed digital asset technology investor is enormous.”

For investors looking at exposure to the digital asset revolution — without the noise, hype or complexity Insig AI is shaping up as a very interesting play.
