By and large it’s been a quiet session as the London small caps found little of surprise in last night’s Fed rate cut news. The All Share index was trading in the black during the morning before seeing modest gains eliminated by slipping half a point into the red at 746.13 just before 2pm.
- EQTEC +107%
- Greenroc +22%
- Anglesey Mining +19%
- Alien Metals -17%
- Sound Energy -13%
EQTEC LON:EQT was the biggest riser by some margin, adding 107% on the day. On Tuesday, the company revealed that an existing shareholder who may be instrumental in its longer term survival plans had upped its stake to almost 30%. Volumes are looking significantly elevated.
- AIM Market Roundup: Trellus Health, Great Western Mining, EMV Capital
- AIM Market Roundup: RentGuarantor, Medpal AI, Cap-XX
A more modest return from Greenroc LON:GROC who were in second place at copy time, up 22%. Again there was no real share price response to Tuesday’s news of an exploration license being approved but volumes were elevated so this may have taken out some overhang. The update does however have a long life, with mining not expected to begin before 2030.
Anglesey Mining LON:AYM gets the notable mention, up 19%. That comes off the back of news that the company has secured £350k of investment from Energold Minerals.

- AIM Market Roundup: Haydale Graphene, Marechale Capital, Getech
Alien Metals LON:UFO was the biggest faller off a modest 17% in response to placing news. The funding was undertaken at a 25% discount, with proceeds being used for debt repayment progressing an iron ore project and meeting operational requirements.
Sound Energy LON:SOU slipped 13%, with the move accompanying news of a milestone being reached in Morocco. However the sell off was within the quoted spread and needs to take account of the meaningful gains seen since the start of the month. Quite possibly a case of buy the rumour, sell the fact.
That concludes the small cap coverage for 2025. We’ll be back on Monday 5th January, so I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
